THE ROLE OF DEMOCRATIC LEADERSHIP IN FOSTERING INNOVATION
This research explores the role of democratic leadership in fostering innovation. Objectives are: (1) to assess the impact of democratic leadership on creative thinking, (2) to analyze its influence on employee involvement in innovation processes, and (3) to identify the most effective democratic practices for fostering innovation. A survey design is chosen for its ability to provide quantitative insights from numerous respondents. Using Taro Yamane's formula, the sample size is 310, ensuring a reliable dataset. The study focuses on the IT sector in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, where innovation is a key driver of success. The reliability coefficient score is 0.88, indicating high consistency. Findings reveal that democratic leadership significantly fosters innovation by encouraging employee participation and idea-sharing. Recommendations include promoting democratic leadership styles and creating platforms for employees to contribute ideas and engage in innovation processes.
